| Angels Flight, originally known as the "Los Angeles Incline Railway," was built in 1901 by Col. J.W. Eddy. Angels Flight was a popular, but short, railroad in Los Angeles connecting the original Downtown shopping district below with the residential district of Bunker Hill. The two counterbalanced passenger cars, Sinai and Olivet ran until the late 1960s when it was closed temporarily. It didn't open again for 27 years. The reopening was a major city event. |
