Personal Observations

My wife and I visited Mission San Franciso de Asis on February 7, 2004. Mission San Franciso de Asis sits in the heart of a major city. As a result, it is not as large as some, yet enough remains to make it a worthy stop along the Mission Trail. Like several other missions, there is a beautiful large newer church a few feet north of teh original Mission church. On the south side is one of only three cemeteries within the City of San Francisco. The cemetery was used in the Motion Picture Vertigo along with Mission San Juan Bautista. On the day we visited, the Mission was filled with tourists and I would guess that it is one of the most visited missions. Parking in San Francisco is always difficult, but we were lucky to find a space only a block away.
